Walleye
We will catch trophy walleyes from the first Saturday in May (season opener) through the end of October. We mainly fish with worms (my own homemade spinner rigs) and bottom bouncers. We bottom bounce for walleyes from .8 to a maximum of 1.4 MPH. Typically I use over 3,500 worms during the season. We will fish all techniques to catch walleye, from bottom bouncing in 10’ to 120’ of water, or using jigs, blade baits, or the drop shot technique. Early in the season we fish with jigs and blade baits. As soon as the water gets above 50°F, the walleye will start to bite the worms and will continue biting on worms until the end of the season. When the winds are right (rough!) we can drift and catch walleyes by jigging and/or by drop shot. When the walleyes want to suspend from 10’ to 100’ down in the water column, we can use inline boards with worm harnesses using either inline weights, jet divers or torpedo divers to get the worm harnesses down to the walleyes. Downriggers or dipsy divers are not used on my charters.
All tackle and bait are supplied. However, you are always welcome to bring your own tackle to use on board.
